§ 1.03.010. Purpose.

It is the purpose of this chapter to clarify the authority to make appointments to City and regional boards, commissions, and committees for the City of Elk Grove.

To the extent this chapter delineating appointment authority conflicts with any resolution, policy, or procedure of the City of Elk Grove, the procedures in this chapter shall control.

§ 1.03.030. Appointment authority to boards, commissions, and committees by the Mayor.

Notwithstanding any other provision of this code, pursuant to Government Code Section 40605, the Mayor, with the approval of the City Council, shall make all appointments to boards, commissions, and committees unless otherwise specifically provided by State statute.

§ 1.03.040. Terms of service of appointments.

A. Terms of service on City boards, commissions, and committees shall be set by resolution of the City Council. Appointees shall serve at the pleasure of the City Council with no maximum number of terms that may be served by any individual appointee.

B. Term expirations of appointments to all boards, commissions, and committees shall be implemented on a bi-annual basis. A schedule of term expirations for individual seats shall be established by City Council resolution.
