17.04.108.4 - Stop Orders.¶
Whenever any work is being done contrary to the provisions of this code, the building official may order the work stopped by notice in writing served on any person engaged in the doing or causing such work to be done, and any such person shall forthwith stop work until authorized by the building official to proceed with the work.

17.04.108.7 - Connection After Order to Disconnect.¶
No person shall make connection from any energy, fuel or power supply nor supply energy or fuel to any equipment regulated by this code which has been disconnected or ordered to be disconnected by the building official, or the use of which has been ordered to be discontinued by the building official, until the building official authorizes the reconnection and use of such equipment.

17.04.109.1 - Hazardous Conditions.¶
Any equipment regulated by this code, which is unsafe or which constitutes a fire or health hazard or is otherwise dangerous to human life is, for the purpose of this section, unsafe. Any use of equipment regulated by this code constituting a hazard to safety, health or public welfare by reason of inadequate maintenance, dilapidation, obsolescence, fire hazard, disaster, damage or abandonment is, for the purpose of this section, an unsafe use. Any such unsafe equipment is hereby declared to be a public nuisance and shall be abated by repair, rehabilitation, demolition or removal in accordance with the procedures set forth in the Uniform Code for the Abatement of Dangerous Buildings, or such alternate procedure as may be adopted by the city. As an alternative, the building official, or other employee or official of the city as designated by the council, may institute any other appropriate action to prevent, restrain, correct or abate the violation.

17.04.112.1 - Permits Required.¶
No mechanical system regulated by this code shall be installed, altered, repaired, replaced or remodeled unless a separate mechanical permit for each separate building or structure has first been obtained from the building official.

17.04.114.1.1 - Permit Expiration.¶
Every permit issued by the building official under the provisions of this code shall expire and become null and void if the work authorized by such permit is not commenced within 180 days from the date of such permit, or if the work authorized by such permit is suspended or abandoned at any time after the work is commenced for a period of 180 days. Before such work can be recommenced, a new permit shall be first obtained so to do, and the fee therefor shall be one-half the amount required for a new permit for such work, provided no changes have been made or will be made in the original plans and specifications for such work, and provided further that such suspension or abandonment has not exceeded one year. No permit shall be extended more than once. In order to renew action on a permit after expiration, the permittee shall pay a new full permit fee.
A permittee holding an unexpired permit may apply for an extension of the time within which work may commence under that permit when the permittee is unable to commence work within the time required by this section for good and satisfactory reasons. The building official may extend the time for action by the permittee for a period and exceeding 180 days on written request by the permittee showing that circumstances beyond the control of the permittee have prevented action from being taken.

17.04.114.5 - Suspension or Revocation.¶
The building official may, in writing, suspend or revoke a permit issued under the provisions of this code whenever the permit is issued in error or on the basis of incorrect information supplied. or in violation of other ordinance or regulation of the city.

17.04.116.4 - Inspection Requests.¶
It shall be the duty of the person doing the work authorized by a permit to notify the building official that such work is ready for inspection. The building official may require that every request be filed at least one working day before such inspection is desired. Such request may be in writing or by telephone at the option of the building official.
It shall be the duty of the person requesting any inspection required by this code to provide access to and means for proper inspection of such work.

17.04.117.1 - Energy Connection.¶
No person shall make connection from a source of energy fuel to any mechanical system or equipment regulated by this code, and for which a permit is required, until approved by the building official.
