§ 11.11.005 DEFINITIONS.

For the purpose of this Chapter, the following definitions shall apply unless the context clearly indicates or requires a different meaning.

TOWING OPERATION. The activity of towing vehicles for compensation within the City of Culver City. TOWING OPERATION includes the storing of vehicles and all other services incidental to towing.

TOW UNIT OPERATOR. The operator of a tow unit employed by an official police garage to respond to police-initiated requests for tow service.

§ 11.11.010 PERMIT REQUIRED TO OPERATE TOWING SERVICE.

No person shall engage in, manage or operate a towing operation without a written permit to do so from the City and without complying with all regulations adopted by resolution of the City Council relating to a towing operation.

§ 11.11.015 TOWING UNIT OPERATOR REQUIREMENTS.

No tow unit operator shall operate a tow unit without a written permit to do so from the Chief of Police and without complying with all regulations adopted by resolution of the City Council relating to a towing operation.

§ 11.11.020 ISSUANCE OF PERMIT.

At the time a permit is issued, a permittee shall receive and in writing acknowledge receipt of a copy of this Chapter and all City Council resolutions relating to a towing operation.

§ 11.11.025 FEES; DURATION OF PERMIT.

The fees for and the duration of the permits referred to in this Chapter shall be established by Council resolution.

§ 11.11.030 PENALTIES.

Any person violating any of the provisions of this Chapter or any regulation established by resolution of the City Council relating to a towing operation shall be guilty of a misdemeanor, and upon conviction thereof shall be punishable by a fine of not more than Five Hundred Dollars ($500), or by imprisonment in the City or County jail for a period not exceeding six (6) months, or by both such fine and imprisonment.
