1.80.010 Date for general municipal election.¶
The general municipal election for the City shall be held on the same day as the day of the Statewide general election. (Gov. Code § 36503.5) (Ord. 1787)

1.80.030 Term limits.¶
A. The purpose of this section is to encourage qualiKed candidates to seek public oMce and limit the powers of incumbency by placing limits on the number of consecutive terms, which members of the City Council and Mayor may serve.
B. No person shall be elected as a member of the City Council for more than two full consecutive terms.
C. No person shall be elected to serve as Mayor for more than two full consecutive terms.
D. Pursuant to California Government Code Section 36502, the provisions of this section shall not become operative unless they are submitted to the voters in the City in a regularly scheduled election and a majority of the votes cast on the question favor adoption of the proposal. If a majority of the votes cast is in favor of the adoption of this section, then the provisions of this section will apply prospectively from the date of the election.1
