Compton Municipal Code § 11-2 Amendments to County Animal Control Ordinance

Notwithstanding the provisions of subsection 11-1.1, the Animal Control Ordinance is hereby amended as follows:

a. Unless a different penalty is provided for, any person violating any of the provisions of this Chapter is guilty of an infraction which is punishable by a fine not exceeding $100 for the first violation; a fine not exceeding $200 for a second violation within one year; and, a fine not exceeding $500 for each additional violation of this Chapter within one year; unless another penalty is provided for in this Chapter.

b. Violations of sections: 10.12.190, 10.12.200, 10.20.280, 10.20.310, 10.28.060, 10.32.020, 10.32.070, 10.32.080, 10.37.030, 10.40.010, 10.40.040 of the Animal Control Ordinance is a misdemeanor punishable by a fine not exceeding $1,000 or by imprisonment in the County jail for a period not exceeding six months, or by both such fine and imprisonment.

The City Council of the City of Compton may add a surcharge, in an amount established by resolution, on any one or more of the fees imposed under the Chapter to pay for the City’s administrative costs in enforcing the provisions of this Chapter.
