Sec. 4-4.801. - Advertising vehicles.

No person shall operate or drive any vehicle used for advertising purposes or any advertising vehicle equipped with a sound amplifying or loud speaking device upon any street or alley at any time within the central business district, except when such use has been approved by the City Manager.

Sec. 4-4.802. - Truck routes: Establishment.

Whenever any resolution of this City designates and describes any street or portion thereof as a street the use of which is permitted by any vehicle exceeding a maximum gross weight limit of three (3) tons, the City Manager is hereby authorized to designate such street or streets by appropriate signs as: "Truck Routes for the movements of vehicles exceeding a maximum gross weight limit of three tons".

Sec. 4-4.803. - Trucks permitted to use other streets when.

When any such truck route or routes are established and designated by appropriate signs, the operator of any vehicle exceeding a maximum gross weight limit of three (3) tons shall drive on such route or routes and none other except that nothing in this section shall prohibit the operator of any vehicle exceeding a maximum gross weight of three (3) tons coming from a truck route having ingress and egress by direct route to and from restricted streets when necessary for the purpose of making pickups or deliveries of goods, wares and merchandise from or to any buildings or structures located on such restricted streets or for the purpose of delivering materials to be used in the actual bona fide repair, alteration, remodeling or construction of any building or structure upon such restricted streets for which a building permit has previously been obtained therefor.

Sec. 4-4.804. - Truck routes: Exceptions to applicability of provisions.

The provisions of Sections 4-8.02 through 4-8.05 shall not apply to:

(a) Passenger buses under the jurisdiction of the Public Utilities Commission; or

(b) Any vehicle owned by a public utility while necessarily in use in the construction, installation or repair of any public utility.

Sec. 4-4.805. - Truck routes: City Manager.

Those streets established by the City Manager are hereby declared to be truck routes for the movement of vehicles exceeding a maximum gross weight of three (3) tons.

Sec. 4-4.806. - Parking of trucks or trailers in residential districts prohibited.

The parking of trucks, truck-tractors, trailers and semitrailers and any other commercial service vehicle whose gross weight limit exceeds five (5) tons or whose overall length exceeds twenty-one (21) feet, shall be prohibited in all residential districts except when serving a residence in the district or in case of an accident or other emergency, the operator must leave to obtain assistance.

As used in this section, "residential districts" are those portions of a street or highway and the property contiguous thereto, other than the downtown business district: (1) upon one (1) side of which street or highway, within a distance of a quarter of a mile, the contiguous property fronting thereon is occupied by thirteen (13) or more separate dwelling units; or (2) upon both sides of which street or highway, collectively, within a distance of a quarter of a mile, the contiguous property fronting thereon is occupied by sixteen (16) or more separate dwelling units. A residential district may be longer than one-quarter of a mile if the above ratio of separate dwelling houses to the length of the street or highway exists.

Editor's note— Ord. No. 773, § 2, effective June 1, 2013, repealed § 4-4.807, which pertained to standards for commercial vehicles in residential districts and derived from Ord. No. 558, which had an effective date of Oct. 21, 1989.
