The commission is the successor to, and is vested with all the powers, duties, purposes, responsibilities and jurisdiction formerly vested in the Department of Finance as successor to the Surveyor General, Register of the State Land Office, and State Land Office, and of the Division of State Lands in the Resources Agency (formerly in the Department of Conservation).
