8.16.110 - Health permit required.¶
Any person or owner who operates, or permits the use of, a motel, hotel, auto court and resort or portion thereof shall first obtain a permit issued by the department of public health, authorizing such person or owner to operate such a motel, hotel, auto court or resort. Applications may be secured from the department of public health.

8.16.120 - Investigation of health permit application.¶
Upon receipt of an application for a public health permit filed pursuant to this chapter, the department of public health shall cause to be made an inspection of the motel, hotel, auto court and resort and if found to be in conformity with the requirements of this and other ordinances of the city and the California Health and Safety Code, Division 13, Part 1.5, and the California Administrative Code, Title 8, Chapter 9, Articles 7 and 8, the permit shall be issued upon payment of the fee hereinafter specified.

8.16.130 - Health permit fee.¶
Prior to the issuance of a public health permit, there shall be paid to the department of public health a fee equal to one dollar per year for each apartment, motel unit, hotel room, auto court and resort unit, provided that the public health permit fee for each motel, hotel, auto court and resort shall not be less than seven dollars and fifty cents per year. All such fees shall be paid in advance and no portion shall be rebated or refunded.

8.16.140 - Supplemental permit fee.¶
Fees for supplemental permits issued for motel units, hotel rooms, auto courts and resort units added after issuance of the regular permit shall be prorated on a monthly basis and the expiration date of the supplemental permit shall be the same as the expiration date on the regular permit.

8.16.150 - Permit expiration.¶
Permits issued pursuant to this chapter shall expire on December 31st following issuance and such permit must be renewed within thirty days following the expiration date. Permit fees for motels, hotels, auto courts and resorts beginning operation during the permit year shall be prorated on a monthly basis and all such permits shall expire December 31st.

8.16.160 - Failure to reapply for permits.¶
Every person, firm or corporation having a permit as required under this chapter, who fails to reapply for such permit with the time prescribed in Section 8.16.150 shall, in addition to the required fee, pay a penalty fee in the amount of twenty-five percent of the required fee.

8.16.170 - Permit transfers.¶
A transfer of ownership or possession of motel, hotel, auto court and resort operating under an existing permit may be made upon request for a new permit to operate accompanied by a current certificate of occupancy issued as prescribed in Sections 8.16.060 through 8.16.100. Failure to apply for transfer of permit upon change of ownership, within thirty days of such transfer, shall thereupon require payment of a penalty fee of twenty- five percent of the original permit fee.

8.16.180 - Display of certificate of occupancy.¶
Every certificate of occupancy shall be kept posted in a conspicuous place in the office of each motel, hotel, auto court and resort for which it is issued.
