3-1-601: TITLE:¶
This tax shall be known as the CONDOMINIUM CONVERSION TAX OF THE CITY OF BEVERLY HILLS. (1988 Code)
3-1-602: IMPOSITION OF TAX:¶
There is hereby imposed, for revenue purposes, on the owner of any building with two (2) or more dwelling units, as defined in section 3-1-503 of this chapter, a condominium conversion tax of three thousand seven hundred fifty dollars ($3,750.00) for each dwelling unit of such building converted to condominiums. 3-1-603: DEFINITION:¶
"Condominium conversion" shall mean the conversion of any existing building into units for sale, lease, or financing, whether immediate or future, as a condominium project as defined in section 1350 of the Civil Code of the state, or as a stock cooperative as defined in sections 11003.2 and 11004.5(d) of the Business and Professions Code of the state, or as a community apartment project as defined in sections 11004 and 11004(b) of the Business and Professions Code of the state. 3-1-604: PAYMENT OF TAX:¶
The tax imposed by this article shall be due and payable to the city upon issuance by the city of any building permit relative to the conversion, or upon filing of any map relative to conversion, whichever event occurs first in time. (1988 Code)
3-1-605: REFUNDS:¶
Any tax paid to the city pursuant to the provisions of this article for any units which are not converted to condominiums shall be refunded upon application of the payor. Applications for refunds shall be made within one year of cancellation of expiration of the building permit, or within one year of withdrawal or cancellation of the map, for entitlement to a refund.
