3.74.010 Establishing the Cable Television Task Force.

There is hereby established a Berkeley Cable Television Task Force in the City of Berkeley, the duties and responsibilities of which shall be as hereinafter set forth. (Ord. 5843-NS § 1, 1987)

3.74.020 Membership.

The Berkeley Cable Television Task Force shall consist of nine members appointed according to the requirements of Sections 2.04.030 through 2.04.130 of the Berkeley Municipal Code. The task force membership is to be represented by a variety of persons with expertise in matters concerning cable television, public access, telecommunications and education, as well as consumers of public television. If possible, at least sixty percent of the task force membership (or six of nine members) should be appointed because of specific expertise in the areas relevant hereto. (Ord. 5843-NS § 2, 1987)

3.74.030 Exemptions.

Members of the Cable Television Task Force are hereby exempt from the residency requirements of the Berkeley Municipal Code Section 2.04.140. (Ord. 5843-NS § 3, 1987)

3.74.040 Terms of appointment and organization.

Terms of members appointed to the Cable Television Task Force shall be as provided in the Berkeley Municipal Code Sections 2.04.070 and 2.04.075. Said board shall organize by electing from its members one president, one vice-president and such other officers as may be necessary, who shall hold office for one year and until their successors are elected unless their terms as members of the board sooner expire. 3.74.050 Meetings.

The board shall establish a regular time and place of meeting. All meetings shall be noticed as required by current statutes and minutes for each meeting shall be recorded, kept and maintained.

The task force will maintain a mailing list of all interested persons who will be given advanced notice of each meeting of the body. (Ord. 5843-NS § 5, 1987)

3.74.060 Duties of the task force.

The Berkeley Cable Television Task Force shall be advisory to City Council and shall:

A. Work toward the development of public, educational and government access.

B. Review consumer cable issues.

C. Provide input into the community needs assessment study.

D. Provide guidance on other cable and telecommunications policy as assigned by council. (Ord. 5843-NS § 6, 1987)

3.74.070 Expiration.

The Berkeley Cable Television Task Force will be automatically disbanded if the council takes no action to continue the body by September 30, 1994. (Ord. 6202-NS § 1, 1993; Ord. 6068-NS § 1, 1991; Ord. 5905-NS § 1, 1989; Ord. 5843-NS § 7, 1987)
