13.85.010 Purpose.

The purpose of this chapter is to ensure that the City allocates reasonable funding from existing sources to an ongoing Housing Retention Program, whose goal will be to prevent homelessness by ensuring that at-risk residents of the City of Berkeley are able to remain in stable housing. 13.85.020 Funding.

The City Manager or their designee shall recommend how and to what extent the City uses revenues from the general fund to fund the Housing Retention Program and prevent homelessness, with a goal of allocating no less than $1,180,000.00 per year for this purpose. The target allocation shall increase annually to track the increase in the Consumer Price Index for all Bay Area Consumers. (Ord. 7950-NS § 3 (part), 2024)

13.85.030 Operations.

The City Manager or their designee is authorized to promulgate any necessary rules or regulations to effectuate the Housing Retention Program including eligibility criteria, application procedures, and any other rule or regulation necessary to administer the Program.
