Bakersfield Municipal Code Ch. 3.24 Police Report Fees

The charges to be made for copies of accident reports, copies of photographs taken during the course of an investigation of a traffic accident, and copies of crime reports shall be such as will insure recovery of city costs as determined by the city manager and shall be set forth in the administrative rules and regulations. (Ord. 2594 § 1, 1980; prior code § 5.36.010)

The proceeds from fees charged under the provisions of this chapter shall be transferred by the chief of police, or his authorized deputy, to the office of the finance director for deposit to the general fund. (Ord. 3006 § 8, 1985; prior code § 5.36.040)

A. All orders for copies of police records as set forth in this chapter shall be on a cash basis.

B. When an order has been placed and the required fee has been paid, such order may not be canceled or the fee refunded except in case of clerical error whereby no order was in fact placed for the service. (Prior code § 5.36.050)

Nothing contained in this chapter shall be construed as granting to any person the right, power or privilege to inspect, copy, duplicate, read or be advised of the contents of any document, record or police report which in the opinion of the chief of police of the city, or his authorized deputy, is of a confidential nature or concerns a matter still under investigation by the police department.
