6.12.010 - Seizure.¶
A. The City pound master is empowered to seize and impound any cat owned, possessed or harbored within the corporate limits of the City which is voluntarily surrendered to him or which is found upon public property or upon the property of someone other than the owner of said cat.
B. Every cat seized under this section shall be kept by the pound master and supplied with food and water, and confined for a period of three days unless the person owning, possessing or harboring the cat redeems it sooner by furnishing to the pound master evidence of his right to the cat, an impoundment fee of $5.00 for the first impoundment or $10.00 for the second impoundment and all subsequent impoundments.
C. In the event the pound master knows the owner, possessor or harborer of any cat seized and impounded under this section, then during the three-day period the pound master shall send notice of the seizure and impoundment to the person.
D. Any cat seized and impounded under this Section which is not redeemed in accordance with this section shall be disposed of by the pound master in accordance with the provisions of Section 6.08.100.

6.12.020 - Disposition of cats seized and impounded which have not been redeemed.¶
A. Every cat which has been seized and impounded as provided in Section 6.12.010, and which has not been redeemed by the person having the right to the cat as provided in this chapter, shall be disposed of as follows: If the impounded cat is not redeemed and released to the owner or agent and the required fees and costs paid at the time of the release, on or before the third calendar day after the day of the seizure, the cat shall be put to death humanely in the cat pound on the sixth calendar day after day of seizure; provided, however, the pound master may, on the fourth day, segregate from the unclaimed cats to be put to death, such worthy or valuable cats which he deems likely to be purchased because of their intrinsic value or because a previous request has been received of desire to purchase, and such withdrawn cats shall be sold and a separate record of each such cat shall be made, and the records and moneys disposed of as provided in this chapter, excepting that no unclaimed cat shall be kept longer than a total of ten calendar days after the day of seizure and if not sold, shall be put to death in a similar manner to the other cats and similar records made and forwarded.
B. The bodies of all cats killed shall be disposed of by the pound master in as sanitary, proper way as meets with the demands of public health and welfare.

6.12.030 - Senior citizen discount.¶
Any person over the age of 62 years shall pay one-half the applicable fees in this chapter.
