2.32.010 When held.

The general municipal election of the city will be held on the same date, and same ballot, as the statewide general election in November of even-numbered years. (Ord. 393 § 1, 1982)

2.32.020 Expiration of terms of office.

City council members whose terms of office expire on the Tuesday succeeding the second Tuesday in April of 1982 shall remain in office until the fourth Tuesday after the date of the general municipal election scheduled for November, 1982. (Ord. 393 § 2, 1982)

2.32.030 Option to appoint interim council member pending special election.

A. If any vacancy on the city council occurs other than by expiration of a term and the city council calls a special election to fill said vacancy, the city council may appoint any person, otherwise qualified, to fill said vacancy and hold office only until the date of the special election.

B. The special election shall be held on the next regularly established election date not less than one hundred fourteen days from the call of the special election.

C. Notwithstanding any other provision of this section, an appointment shall not be made to fill a vacancy on the city council if the appointment would result in a majority of the members serving on the council having been appointed. (Ord. 603 § 2, 2014)
