Atascadero Municipal Code Ch. 11 Existing Building Code

(a) Intent. This document, for reference, is intended to provide flexible and alternative building regulations for the rehabilitation, preservation, restoration, or relocation of designated historic buildings. It permits the use of alternative methods and approaches to achieve compliance with minimum requirements while ensuring a reasonable level of safety, health, property protection, and general welfare. These considerations apply specifically to the repair, alteration, change of occupancy, addition, and relocation of existing buildings.

(b) Applicability. If referenced design criteria are used in the preparation of construction documents in accordance with the California Building Code (CBC) for the repair, alteration, change of occupancy, addition, or relocation of an existing building, such design criteria must be prepared or approved by a licensed design professional registered in the State of California.
