§ 4-6.01 FIREARMS.

(A) Discharging. It shall be unlawful for any person to discharge any kind of rifle, shotgun, pistol, or other type of firearm loaded with any center fire or rim fire cartridge or with black powder or other type of explosive substance or explosive material.

(B) Possession by minors. It shall be unlawful for any person under the age of 18 years, State Fish and Game Laws notwithstanding, to have in his or her possession any type of gun, shotgun, rifle, or pistol, except under the direct supervision and control of a parent, guardian, or adult having responsibility for the minor.

§ 4-6.02 BB SHOT AND PELLETS.

(A) Discharging. It shall be unlawful for any person to shoot or discharge any air gun or pistol designed to propel BB shot or pellets, except under the direct supervision and control of an adult person.

(B) Possession by minors. It shall be unlawful for any person under the age of 18 years to have in his or her immediate possession any air gun, spring gun, or pistol designed to propel BB shot or pellets, except under the direct supervision and control of an adult person.

§ 4-6.02.1 IMITATION FIREARMS AT SCHOOLS.

(A) Unlawful. It shall be unlawful for any person to bring onto any public or private school or school ground, or to possess upon any such school or school ground, any imitation firearm.

(B) Definition. For the purpose of this section, the following definition shall apply unless the context indicates or requires a different meaning.

IMITATION FIREARM. A replica of a firearm or toy firearm that is so substantially similar in physical properties to an existing actual firearm as to lead a reasonable person to conclude that the replica is an actual firearm.

§ 4-6.03 FIREWORKS AND EXPLOSIVE SUBSTANCES.

It shall be unlawful for any person to discharge, burn, or in any way use or possess any dangerous fireworks, such as, but not limited to, firecrackers, Roman candles, rockets, chasing squibs, sparklers, or other explosive devices or substances as defined in the Uniform Fire Code, excluding only roadway flares and paper caps with an average explosive content of less than twenty-five hundredths of a grain per cap.

§ 4-6.04 STORAGE OF FIREARMS IN A RESIDENCE.

Except when carried on his or her person, or otherwise in his or immediate control and possession, no person shall keep a firearm (as defined in Cal. Penal Code § 16520, as it may be amended from time to time) in any residence in Antioch owned or controlled by that person unless the firearm is stored in a locked container (as defined in Cal. Penal Code § 16850, as it may be amended from time to time) or the firearm is disabled with a safety device listed on the California Department of Justice's roster of firearm safety devices (as defined in Cal. Penal Code §§ 16540 & 23635, as may be amended from time to time).

§ 4-6.05 VIOLATIONS.

The violation of this chapter shall constitute an infraction. This chapter may be enforced as described in Title 1 of this Code.

§ 4-6.06 EXCEPTIONS AND OTHER LAWS.

The requirements of § 4-6.04 do not apply when a firearm is carried on the person of, or is otherwise in the immediate control and possession of, an individual in accordance with applicable local, state, and/or federal laws.

This chapter does not apply when a firearm is carried on the person of or is otherwise in the immediate control and possession of a peace officer (as defined in Cal. Penal Code §§ 830 et seq., as may be amended from time to time).

It is not the intention of this chapter to regulate any conduct if the regulation of such conduct has been preempted by state or federal law.
