Property tax rate by address

Every California property pays the 1% general levy. On top of it, each tax rate area adds the bonds its voters approved for schools, the city and special districts, so two houses in one county can pay different rates. Enter an address to see the rate for its area.

Available now for Los Angeles, Orange, Riverside, San Diego, San Francisco and Alameda counties.

What this rate does not include

The tax bill also carries fixed charges: Mello-Roos community facilities district taxes, parcel taxes and special assessments. They are dollar amounts per parcel, not rates, and they are not in this estimate.

After a purchase the county reassesses the property at the purchase price, so the seller's past tax bill is usually not what a new owner pays.
