Tax on electricity	8% of electricity charges. § 3.26.050 · code text The tax imposed by this section shall be at the rate of eight percent of the charges made for such energy by an electrical corporation providing service in the city
Tax on gas	8% of gas charges. § 3.26.060 · code text The tax imposed by this section shall be at the rate of eight percent of the charges made for the gas and shall be billed to and paid by the person using the gas.
Exemptions	People receiving AFDC, veterans' or survivors' pension benefits, SSI/SSP or food stamps may be exempt. § 3.26.150 · code text To qualify for an exemption, persons must receive one or more of the following: Households with total income at or below levels set by City Council resolution may be exempt. § 3.26.150 · code text In addition, customers may also qualify for an exemption if their total household income does not exceed household income levels set by resolution of the City Council .
Tax on water, phone or cable	8% of the charges. Applies: Intrastate telephone services. § 3.26.040 · code text The tax imposed by this section shall be at the rate of eight percent of the charges made for such services and shall be paid by the person paying for such services.
