Building on your lot in Moorpark

Moorpark sets its own fence and wall heights for open space, agricultural and residential zones. Limits depend on the yard, grade differences, noise needs and sight lines at driveways.

Key points

  • Fence height: Moorpark limits fences in open space, agricultural and residential zones to 6 ft; in front yards the top 3 ft must be open.
  • Higher walls: City rule: walls may reach 10 ft where neighboring lots differ in grade or, with director approval, for noise attenuation.

Each rule below is marked Moorpark code or CA state law and links to the section it comes from (checked October 2026). General information, not legal advice.
