How long a sale may last	A sale may last no longer than 2 weekends in a row or 48 hours, whichever is shorter. § 7.10.020 · code text No single sale shall be conducted for longer than two consecutive weekends or forty-eight hours, whichever is the shorter period.
Permit	You need a permit from the city clerk; the council sets the fee by resolution. § 7.10.030 · code text The permit required by this chapter shall be in writing in such form as shall, from time to time, be prescribed by the city attorney.
Sales per year	No more than 4 sales per calendar year, and no more than 2 in any month. Applies: Same residents on the same premises. § 7.10.020 · code text No more than four garage sales shall be conducted on any premises by the same residents in any calendar year. 1 such sale is allowed per year. Applies: A nonprofit holding a sale at a member's home; this sale does not count toward the 4-sale yearly limit. § 7.10.020 · code text One such sale may be held per year without it being deemed chargeable to the premises in question for the purpose of applying the four-sale-per-year limitation set forth in subsection (a) of this section.
Signs	Signs only at the sale, on sale days, removed at close or nightfall; none in the public right-of-way. Applies: Exception: up to 2 off-site directional signs with the owner's written permission, when the sale is not on a major thoroughfare. § 7.10.020 · code text Two off-site directional signs may be permitted; provided the premises upon which the sale is conducted is not on a major thoroughfare, provided further that the signs will not constitute a traffic hazard or nuisance to neighboring properties, and provided further that written permission to erect or affix such signs is received from the property owners on whose property such signs are to be placed.
