  • No opening in the barrier larger than 4 inches square.

    Every person who owns or possesses land within the city which has been improved with a swimming pool shall construct, install and thereafter maintain a fence, enclosure or other solid structure surrounding such swimming pool which is not less than five (5) feet in height and having no opening therein (other than the self-closing doors or gates as hereinafter provided) larger than four (4) inches square.

  • At least 5 feet high.
    Applies: The fence or solid enclosure around a swimming pool.

Gates
  • Self-closing and self-latching, keeping the gate or door securely closed when not in actual use.
    Applies: Gates or doors through the required pool enclosure.

    All gates or doors opening through the solid enclosure required by Section 8.40.010 shall, at all times, be equipped with a self-closing and self-latching device designed to keep and capable of keeping such door or gate securely closed at all times when such gate or door is not in actual use.
  • No self-closing or self-latching device is required.
    Applies: Any door of an occupied home that forms part of the pool enclosure.
    § 8.40.020 · code text
    Any door of any dwelling occupied by human beings and forming any part of the solid enclosure, required by Section 8.40.010, need not be equipped as required by subsection A of this section.
