12.09.010 - Separation of water systems.¶
Water systems for firefighting purposes derived from a supply that cannot be approved as safe or potable for human use shall be kept wholly separate and apart and not connected in any manner with water lines used for human consumption.

12.09.020 - Dry type systems.¶
Dry type systems shall have a gate valve at the curb-line and an alarm system.

12.09.030 - Wet type systems.¶
Wet type systems shall have a gate valve at the curb-line, an alarm system and a detector check at a location where it can be inspected by an employee of the city at any time. The detector check shall be a five-eighths inch meter bypassing the main fire line which shall have a check valve opening at a high flow. There shall be a curb stop at the inlet and the outlet of each five-eighths inch meter.

12.09.040 - Extension of water mains for fire protection systems.¶
Extension of water mains for fire protection systems shall be made in the same manner as set forth in Chapter 12.08, Extension of Water Mains, and shall include a gate valve. The owner shall install the alarm system, indicator past valve for the dry system, or the detector check and indicator past valve for the wet system. The owner shall furnish and complete the installation with all necessary gate valves, meters and concrete box to protect the system.

12.09.050 - Standby charge.¶
For each connection made for a fire protection system, there shall be a charge of one dollar per inch of pipe diameter per month.
