Sec. 72.45 - Authority to establish loading zones.

(A) Authority to determine and mark. The Town Engineer, where authorized by resolution of the Town Council, shall determine and mark loading zones and passenger loading zones as follows:

(1) At any place in the central traffic district or any business district; and

(2) In front of the entrance to any place of business or in front of any hall or place used for the purposes of public assembly.

(B) Limitations. In no event shall more than one-half of the total curb length in any block be reserved for loading zone purposes.

(C) Loading zone indications. Loading zones shall be indicated by yellow paint upon the top of all curbs within such zones.

(D) Passenger loading zone indications. Passenger loading zones shall be indicated by white paint upon the top of all curbs within such zones.

Sec. 72.46 - Effect of permission to load or unload.

(A) The permission granted by the provisions of this subchapter to stop or stand a vehicle for the purposes of loading or unloading materials shall apply only to commercial vehicles and shall not extend beyond the time necessary therefor, and in no event for more than 20 minutes.

(B) The loading or unloading of materials shall apply only to commercial deliveries and to the delivery or pickup of express and parcel post packages and United States mail.

(C) The permission granted by the provisions of this subchapter to stop or park for the purposes of loading or unloading passengers shall include the loading or unloading of personal baggage and shall not extend beyond the time necessary therefor, and in no event for more than three minutes

(D) Within the total time limits set forth in this section, the provisions of this section shall be enforced so as to accommodate necessary and reasonable loading or unloading but without permitting the abuse of the privileges granted.

Sec. 72.47 - Coach zones.

(A) The Town Engineer, where authorized by resolution of the Town Council, shall establish coach zones opposite curb space for the loading and unloading of buses or common carriers of passengers and to determine the location of such zones subject to the directives and limitations set forth in this section.

(B) No coach zone shall exceed 80 feet in length, except that when satisfactory evidence has been presented to the Town Engineer showing the necessity therefor, the Town Engineer may extend coach zones not to exceed a total length of 125 feet.

(C) Coach zones shall normally be established on the far side of an intersection.
