Sec. 71.01 - Commercial vehicles using private driveways.

(A) No person shall operate or drive a commercial vehicle in, on, or across any private driveway approach, sidewalk area, or driveway without the consent of the owner or occupant of the property if a sign or markings are in place indicating that the use of such driveway is prohibited.

(B) For the purposes of this section, "commercial vehicle" shall mean a vehicle having a rated capacity in excess of one-half ton.

Sec. 71.02 - Riding or driving on sidewalks.

No person shall ride, drive, propel, or cause to be propelled any vehicle across or upon any sidewalk, except over permanently constructed driveways and except when it is necessary for any temporary purpose to drive a loaded vehicle across a sidewalk. In such latter event, such sidewalk areas shall be substantially protected by wooden planks two inches thick, and written permission shall be previously obtained from the Town Engineer. Such wooden planks shall not be permitted to remain upon such sidewalk area from 6:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m.

Sec. 71.03 - Riding or driving on new pavement and markings.

No person shall ride or drive any animal or any vehicle over or across any newly-made pavement or freshly-painted marking in any street when a barrier sign, cone marker, or other warning device is in place warning persons not to drive over or across such pavement or marking, or when any such device is in place indicating that the street, or any portion thereof, is closed.

Sec. 71.04 - Unauthorized barriers or signs; tampering with barriers or signs.

No person, public utility, or department of the Town shall erect or place any barrier or sign on any street, unless of a type approved by the Town Engineer, or disobey the instructions, remove, tamper with, or destroy any barrier or sign lawfully placed on any street by any person, public utility, or department of the Town.

Sec. 71.05 - Obstructing traffic.

No operator of any vehicle shall enter any intersection or a marked crosswalk unless there is sufficient space on the other side of the intersection or crosswalk to accommodate the vehicle he/she is operating without obstructing the passage of other vehicles or pedestrians, notwithstanding any traffic-control signal indication to proceed.

Sec. 71.06 - Prohibition of certain large vehicles on Old La Honda Road.

(A) It shall be unlawful for any vehicle exceeding 35 feet in length or 13 feet in height, including trailer, to use Old La Honda Road, except as provided herein.

(B) Any vehicle subject to California Public Utilities Code §§ 1031 through 1036 (passenger carriers) is excepted from this regulation as required by California Vehicle Code § 35701.

(C) This regulation shall not apply to any vehicle owned by a public utility necessary in construction or repair of facilities on Old La Honda Road, or to an emergency vehicle as defined in California Vehicle Code § 165, or to Town-owned vehicles, or to any vehicle that has received a Transportation Permit from the Town to use Old La Honda Road. The above exceptions shall also apply for access to public or private streets that intersect with Old La Honda Road, for the purposes stated in this section.

(D) This section shall be enforceable when traffic signs are erected on Old La Honda Road warning users of said road of this regulation.

Sec. 71.07 - Prohibition of certain large vehicles on Kings Mountain Road from Entrance…

(A) It shall be unlawful for any vehicle exceeding 35 feet in length or 13 feet in height, to use Kings Mountain Road between Entrance Way and the Town limit, except as provided herein.

(B) Any vehicle subject to California Public Utilities Code §§ 1031 through 1036 (passenger carriers) is excepted from this regulation as required by California Vehicle Code § 35701.

(C) This regulation shall not apply to any vehicle owned by a public utility necessary in construction or repair of facilities on Kings Mountain Road between Entrance Way and Town Limit, or to an emergency vehicle as defined in California Vehicle Code § 165, or to Town owned vehicles, or to any vehicle that has received a Transportation permit from the Town to use Kings Mountain Road from Entrance Way to the Town limit.

(D) This section shall be enforceable when traffic signs are erected on Kings Mountain Road from Entrance Way to the Town limit warning users of said road of this regulation.

Sec. 71.08 - One-way streets and alleys.

Whenever any ordinance or resolution of the Town designates any one-way street or alley, the Town Engineer shall place and maintain signs giving notice thereof, and no such regulation shall be effective unless such signs are in place. Signs indicating the direction of lawful traffic movement shall be placed at every intersection where the movement of traffic in the opposite direction is prohibited.
