10.28.010 - Signs—Erection authorized—Where.

Whenever any ordinance or resolution of this city designates and describes any street or portion thereof as a through street, or any intersection at which vehicles are required to stop at one or more entrances thereto, or any railroad grade crossing at which vehicles are required to stop, the chief of police shall erect and maintain stop signs as follows:

A stop sign shall be erected on each and every street, lane or alley intersecting such through street or portion thereof so designated and at those entrances of other intersections where a stop is required and at any railroad grade crossing so designated. Every such sign shall conform with and shall be placed as provided in the Vehicle Code of the state.

10.28.020 - Signs—Stop required.

When stop signs are thus erected at the entrance to any intersection or at any railroad grade crossing, every driver of a vehicle shall stop as required by the Vehicle Code of the state.

10.28.030 - Emerging from alley, private drive.

The driver of a vehicle emerging from an alley, driveway or building shall stop such vehicle immediately prior to driving onto a sidewalk or into the sidewalk area extending across any alley way.

10.28.040 - Boulevard—Designated.

Main Street and/or the Redwood Highway traversing through the city is designated as a boulevard.

10.28.050 - Boulevard—Stop signs—Designated intersections.

The intersections of the streets named in this section with the boulevard designated in Section 10.28.040 are designated as proper places for the erection of stop signs to be erected, which stop signs shall be in accordance with Section 114 ½ of the California Vehicle Act. Said streets are as follows:

San Francisco Avenue, Oak, South, Monroe, Alameda, east side of Main Street, Oak, Flower, Franklin, Walnut, Madrone, Manzanita Avenue on west side, alley between Commercial and Mendocino Streets, both sides, exit from north and south end of high school grounds.

10.28.060 - Boulevard—Stops required—Designated intersections.

No vehicle shall enter the boulevard designated in Section 10.28.040 from any of the streets designated in Section 10.28.050 without coming to a full and complete stop before said vehicle enters the intersections of said streets and said boulevard.

10.28.070 - Violation of Sections 10.28.040 and 10.28.050—Penalty.

Any person driving a vehicle upon any of the streets designated in Section 10.28.050 who fails to stop before entering the intersection of any of said streets with the boulevard designated in Section 10.28.040 is guilty of a misdemeanor and upon conviction thereof shall be punished by a fine of not more than fifty dollars or more than five days in jail, or by both such fine and imprisonment.
