Ventura Municipal Code Ch. 10.220 Use of City Parking Structures

This chapter is adopted pursuant to the municipal affairs provision of the City Charter for the purpose of controlling the use of the city’s parking structures in a manner that promotes public safety and welfare. (Ord. No. 2006-007, § 1, 4-24-06)

For purposes of this chapter, the term “parking structure” shall mean any multistory structure dedicated primarily to the purpose of parking automobiles and other vehicles. (Ord. No. 2006-007, § 1, 4-24-06)

No person other than a city officer, employee or agent shall enter and remain in a city-owned or operated parking structure except for the following purposes:

A. To park a vehicle in the parking structure as the driver or as a passenger;

B. To retrieve a vehicle and exit from the parking structure as a driver or as a passenger;

C. To retrieve personal property or to place personal property within a vehicle parked within the parking structure and, thereafter, promptly exit from the structure;

D. To use restroom facilities located within the parking structure and promptly exit from the structure following such use;

E. To make deliveries to, and/or patronize, a commercial business operating within the parking structure pursuant to a city lease or license agreement with the express or implied consent of the owner or operator of the business;

F. For a use authorized by a permit issued in a manner provided for by this code; or

G. For some other use expressly authorized by the city council or city manager. (Ord. No. 2006-007, § 1, 4-24-06)

Every violation of the provisions of this chapter is a misdemeanor punishable in the manner provided for by this code. (Ord. No. 2006-007, § 1, 4-24-06)
