§ 10.48.010. Increasing State speed limit in certain zones.

It is determined upon the basis of an engineering and traffic investigation that the speed permitted by State law upon the following streets is less than is necessary for safe operation of vehicles thereon by reason of the designation and signposting of said streets as through highways and (or) by reason of widely spaced intersections, and it is declared that the prima facie speed limit shall be as hereinafter set forth in this chapter on those streets or parts of streets designated in this chapter when signs are erected giving notice thereof.

§ 10.48.020. Decrease of State law maximum speed.

It is determined upon the basis of an engineering and traffic investigation that the speed permitted by State law outside of business and residence districts as applicable upon the following streets is greater than is reasonable and safe under the conditions found to exist upon such streets, and it is declared that the prima facie speed limit shall be as set forth in this section on those streets or parts of streets designated as follows when signs are erected giving notice thereof:

§ 10.48.030. Decrease of State maximum speed law between districts.

Where the State maximum speed law is applicable for a distance of not exceeding two thousand feet in length between districts, either business or residence, and it is determined upon the basis of an engineering and traffic investigation that the speed permitted by State law on portions of streets which are not State highways is greater than is reasonable or safe under the conditions found to exist upon the described portions of such streets, and it is hereby declared that the prima facie speed limit shall be as herein set forth on those portions of streets herein designated when signs are erected giving notice thereof.

§ 10.48.040. Regulation of speed by traffic signals.

The City Traffic Engineer is authorized to regulate the timing of traffic signals so as to permit the movement of traffic in an orderly and safe manner at speeds slightly at variance from the speeds otherwise applicable within the district or at intersections and shall erect appropriate signs giving notice thereof.
