Truckee Municipal Code Ch. 15.01 Codes Adopted

The following codes are adopted by the Town for the purpose of prescribing regulations for erecting, construction, enlargement, alteration, repair, improving, removal, conversion, demolition, occupancy, equipment use, height and area of buildings and structures:

(1) Administrative Code adopted. The 2022 Edition of the California Administrative Code, known as the California Code of Regulations, Title 24, Part 1, published by the International Code Council, is hereby adopted by reference.

(2) Building Code adopted. The 2025 Edition of the California Building Code, known as the California Code of Regulations, Title 24, Part 2, incorporating the 2021 Edition of the International Building Code, published by the International Code Council, is hereby adopted by reference.

(3) Residential Code adopted. The 2025 Edition of the California Residential Code, known as the California Code of Regulations, Title 24, Part 2.5, incorporating the 2021 Edition of the International Residential Code, published by the International Code Council, is hereby adopted by reference.

(4) Electrical Code adopted. The 2025 Edition of the California Electrical Code, known as the California Code of Regulations, Title 24, Part 3, incorporating the 2020 Edition of the National Electrical Code, published by the National Fire Protection Association, is hereby adopted by reference.

(5) Mechanical Code adopted. The 2025 Edition of the California Mechanical Code, known as the California Code of Regulations, Title 24, Part 4, incorporating the 2021 Edition of the Uniform Mechanical Code published by the International Association of Plumbing and Mechanical Officials, is hereby adopted by reference.

(6) Plumbing Code adopted. The 2025 Edition of the California Plumbing Code, known as the California Code of Regulations, Title 24, Part 5, incorporating the 2021 Edition of the Uniform Plumbing Code, published by the International Association of Plumbing and Mechanical Officials, is hereby adopted by reference.

(7) Energy Code adopted. The 2025 California Energy Code, known as the California Code of Regulations, Title 24, Part 6, published by the California Energy Commission, is hereby adopted by reference.

(8) Historical Building Code adopted. The 2025 Edition of the California Historical Building Code, known as the California Code of Regulations, Title 24, Part 8, published by the International Code Council, is hereby adopted by reference.

(9) Fire Code adopted. The 2022 Edition of the California Fire Code known as the California Code of Regulations, Title 24, Part 9, as amended by the Truckee Fire Prevention District of Nevada County Ordinance 01-2022, is hereby adopted by reference.

(10) Existing Building Code adopted. The 2025 Edition of the California Existing Building code, known as the California Code of Regulations, Title 24, Part 10, incorporating the 2021 International Existing Building Code, published by the International Code Council, is hereby adopted by reference.

(11) Green Building Standards Code adopted. The 2025 Edition of the California Green Building Standards Code (CALGreen), known as the California Code of Regulations, Title 24, Part 11, published by the International Code Council, is hereby adopted by reference.

(12) Referenced Standards Code adopted. The 2025 Edition of the California Referenced Standards Code, known as the California Code of Regulations, Title 24, Part 12, published by the International Code Council, is hereby adopted by reference.

(13) Housing Code adopted. The 1997 Edition of the Uniform Housing Code, published by the International Conference of Building Officials, as referenced by the California Department of Housing and Community Development, and pursuant to the provisions of Section 17958, 17958.5, 17958.7, 17958.9 and 17959 of the California Health and Safety code, is hereby adopted by reference.

(14) Abatement of Dangerous Buildings Code adopted. The 1997 Edition of the Uniform Code for the Abatement of Dangerous Buildings, published by the International Conference of Building Officials, is hereby adopted by reference.

(15) Swimming Pool and Spa Code adopted. The 2024 Edition of the International Swimming Pool and Spa Code, published by the International Code Council, is hereby adopted by reference.

(16) International Property Maintenance Code adopted. The 2018 Edition of the International Property Maintenance Code, published by the International Code Council, is hereby adopted by reference.

(17) International Solar Energy Provisions adopted. The 2021 Edition of the International Solar Energy Provisions, published by the International Code Council, is hereby adopted by reference.

(18) Wildland-Urban Interface Code adopted. The 2025 Edition of the California Wildland-Urban Interface Code is hereby adopted by reference.

Where the California Code of Regulations of the State Building Standards Code Regulations differs from any provisions of the Uniform or International Codes, State Building Code Regulations shall prevail.

One copy of the codes will be on file in the office of the Building Official for use and examination by the public.

All administrative sections of the California Administrative Code, California Electrical Code, California Mechanical Code, California Plumbing Code, California Energy Code, California Historical Building Code, California Existing Building Code, California Referenced Standards, International Swimming Pool and Spa and Hot Tub Code and International Solar Energy Provisions Code are hereby deleted and replaced by Chapter 1, Division II of the California Building Code 2025 Edition.
