Torrance Municipal Code Art. 1 FIRE CODE Revised 12/25

That portion of the State Building Standards Code, known as the California Fire Code, 2025 Edition, published by the International Code Council and the California Building Standards Commission with errata, including Appendices A, B, BB, C, D, E and F, the table of contents and the index, as modified and amended, is adopted and hereby collectively declared to be the Torrance Fire Code for the purpose of regulating and governing the safeguarding of life and property from fire and explosion hazards arising from the storage, handling and use of hazardous substances, materials and devices, and from conditions hazardous to life or property in the occupancy of buildings and premises in the City of Torrance, providing for the issuance of permits and collection of fees. To ensure compliance with AB 130 the existing 2022 Torrance Fire Code ordinance (Ordinance 3856) including provisions, regulations and requirements applicable to Group R occupancies (R-1, R-2, R-2.1, R-3 AND R-4) shall remain unamended and continue in full force and effect as originally adopted. No changes, amendments or deletions apply to Group R Occupancies. Not less than one (1) copy of said code and standards as modified, deleted or amended shall be filed in the office of the City Clerk.
