Shafter Municipal Code Ch. 12.08 Public Improvement Specifications

For the purpose of establishing standard specifications for public works of improvement in the city, Standard Specifications of State of California Business and Transportation Agency, Department of Transportation, published under date of January, 1975, is hereby referred to, adopted, and made a part hereof the same as though fully set forth herein.

A. Whenever used in the standard specifications, the following terms shall have the meaning herein specified, unless a different meaning clearly appears from the context:

1. "Department of Transportation" or "Division of Highways" means the engineering department of the city of Shafter.

2. "Director" means the city engineer.

3. "Engineer" means city engineer.

4. "Laboratory" means the laboratory designated and authorized by the city of Shafter to test materials and work.

5. "State" or "state of California" means city of Shafter.

B. Other terms appearing in the standard specifications shall have the intent and meaning specified in Section 1, Definition of Terms, of the standard specifications.

In case of conflict between the standard specifications and the provisions of any contract to which the city is a party, the provisions of such contract shall take precedence and be controlling.
