11.90.010 Delegation to director of streets and traffic. ¶
All of the powers granted to the city by Article 6 of Chapter 5 of Division 15 of the State of California Vehicle Code are hereby delegated to the director of streets and traffic. (Ords. 22045, 23734.)
11.90.020 Definitions. ¶
A. Multiple Trip Transportation Permit. A multiple trip transportation permit shall be defined to mean a permit that will allow a vehicle of an extralegal size, weight or load to operate on more than a single trip within the City of San José. Such permit shall expire on the last day of the calendar year in which it was issued.
B. Single Trip Transportation Permit. A single trip transportation permit shall be defined to
mean a permit that will allow a vehicle of an extralegal size, weight, or load to operate on a single trip within the City of San José. (Ord. 22045.)
11.90.030 Issuance of permits. ¶
Upon good cause appearing, the director of streets and traffic may, in his or her discretion, issue a single trip transportation permit or a multiple trip transportation permit.

11.90.040 Fees. ¶
The fees for transportation permits shall be as set forth in the schedule of fees established by resolution of the city council. (Ord. 22045.)
11.90.050 Insurance for permit to transport hazardous materials. ¶
As a condition to the issuance of a transportation permit, an applicant for a transportation permit under this chapter to transport hazardous materials as defined in California Vehicle Code Section 353 and as set forth in Title 13 of the California Administrative Code shall obtain and maintain during the full term of the permit, and during any renewal or extension thereof, insurance as required by the director of finance. 11.90.060 Required transportation permit. ¶
No person shall operate any vehicle within the limits of the City of San José of a size or weight or load in excess of the maximum limits established by California Vehicle Code, Division 15 (Size, Weight, and Load), without a valid transportation permit issued by the director of streets and traffic.
