2-6.01 - Designated.

The following public employees and officers of the Town are hereby designated as peace officers pursuant to the provisions of Section 830.6 of the Penal Code of the State and as such are hereby appointed as reserve police officers for the limited and restricted law enforcement purposes as are more particularly set forth in this chapter:

(c) The Director of Public Works, or any regular employee designated by him, to administer and enforce by arrest the violations of the provisions of this Code as follows:

(1) Title 3, Chapter 3, Article 6, Obnoxious Weeds;

(2) Title 4, Chapter 7, Loud Noises;

(3) Title 4, Chapter 9, Street Trees;

(4) Title 4, Chapter 13, Private Trees;

(5) Title 4, Chapter 15, Smoking in Public Places;

(6) Title 5, Chapter 2, Creeks and Streams;

(7) Title 5, Chapter 4, Sewers and Cesspools;

(8) Title 6, Chapter 2, Going-Out-of-Business Sales;

(9) Title 6, Chapter 3, Community Antenna Television Systems;

(10) Title 7, Public Works;

(11) Title 9, Building Regulations; and

(12) Title 10, Planning and Zoning.

2-6.02 - Badges.

The public employees and officers designated in Section 2-6.01 of this chapter when performing their duties as peace officers shall not be required to wear any distinctive police uniform but shall carry on their person a badge or other appropriate credential showing their authority as a peace officer.

2-6.03 - Authority of Chief of Police.

Whenever any of the public employees and officers named in this chapter are performing duties as a Police Officer, such employee or officer shall be under the general administration of the Chief of Police and shall report to him in such form and in such manner as the Chief of Police shall direct.

2-6.04 - Arrest defined.

As used in this chapter, the word "arrest" shall not mean the usual formal arrest procedure but is limited to the issuance of a citation for a misdemeanor pursuant to the provisions of Section 853.6 of the Penal Code of the State. If the violator does not accept a citation and demands to be taken before a magistrate, then the necessary arrest shall be made by a regular uniformed Police Officer.
