12.06.010 - Mailboxes—Public right-of-way.¶
No mailboxes for delivery of mail shall be placed or maintained within the limits of any public right-of-way in any area where curbs, gutters, and sidewalks have been constructed abutting residential type properties, except as follows:
A. The United States Post Office Department may place collection and storage boxes within the public right-of-way; provided such boxes shall be placed so as not to endanger the life and safety of the traveling public.
B. A mailbox may be placed within the public right-of-way in a residential area where no curbs, gutters, and sidewalks have been constructed; provided a permit shall first be obtained from the city manager, acting by and through the department of public works, where the location of such mailbox will not endanger the life and safety of the traveling public. The application for such a permit shall be in writing and shall clearly designate thereon the type of mailbox to be installed and its location within the public right-of-way.

12.06.020 - Mailboxes—Residential yard areas.¶
No mailbox shall be constructed or permitted to be placed or maintained within a required front or side yard in any residential district; provided that such mailbox may project a reasonable distance into any front or side yard requirement if such mailbox is an integral part of or attached directly to a permitted building.
