Sec. 2-390. - Holding period for unclaimed property.

(a) All unclaimed property in the possession of the city or in the possession of the police department of the city with the exception of unclaimed bicycles shall be held by the police department for a period of at least six months. Unclaimed bicycles shall be held for a period of at least three months.

(b) Following the expiration of the time periods set forth above, the property referred to shall be sold at public auction to the highest bidder.

Sec. 2-391. - Notice of auction sale.

Notice of any such auction sale shall be given by the chief of police at least five days before the time fixed for said auction sale by publication once in a newspaper of general circulation published in the county.

The proceeds of any such auction sale, if any, shall be deposited in the general fund of the city.
