Sec. 2-821. - Deposit of moneys for payment of disability benefits.¶
The city may deposit, pursuant to a contract to administer a self-insured workers' compensation program, moneys in an account to be held in trust by the contractor to pay disability benefits under Labor Code div. 4 (Labor Code § 3200 et seq.), and such funds may be disbursed and checks signed under a procedure agreed upon by the contractor and the city manager.

Sec. 2-822. - Deposit of moneys for payment of claims for tort liability.¶
The city may deposit, pursuant to a contract to administer a self-insured municipal liability program, moneys in an account to be held in trust by the contractor to pay claims for tort liability, and such funds may be disbursed and checks signed under a procedure agreed upon by the contractor and the city council.

Sec. 2-823. - Claims settlement authority.¶
Pursuant to Government Code § 935.4, the city manager shall perform the functions of the city council in allowing, compromising, settling or rejecting any claim against the city up to the maximum amount specified in Government Code § 935.4. The city manager shall notify the council in writing at least five working days prior to his proposed action. Upon the written order of the city manager, the city shall cause a warrant to be issued in the amount for which a claim has been allowed, compromised or settled.
