2.36.010 Merit system.

The city manager shall formulate and recommend to the council for its approval rules and regulations pertaining to the operation of a merit personnel program. These rules and regulations shall cover the promotion, demotion, suspension, and release of personnel connected with the municipal service and all other matters governing the status of employees and conditions of their employment.

2.36.020 Classification plan.

All positions of the municipal service shall be classified within a position classification plan, which shall be maintained and operated by the city manager.

2.36.030 Declaration of intent to receive state aid for recruitment and training of…

The city of Palo Alto declares that it desires to qualify to receive aid from the state of California under the provisions of Chapter 1 of Title 4, Part 4

of the California Penal Code.

2.36.040 Adherence to recruitment and training standards for peace officers and public safety dispatchers.

Pursuant to Section 13510(c), Section 13522 and Section 13525 of Chapter 1 of Title 4, Part 4 of the California Penal Code, the city of Palo Alto while receiving aid from the state of California pursuant to said Chapter 1 will adhere to the standards for recruitment and training of peace officers and public safety dispatchers established by the California Commission on Peace Officer Standards and Training. Pursuant to Section 13512 of Chapter 1 of Title 4, Part 4 of the California Penal Code, the Commission on Peace Officer Standards and Training and its representatives may make such inquiries as deemed appropriate by the commission to ascertain that its standards for recruitment and training of peace officers and public safety dispatchers is adhered to by the City of Palo Alto.
