§ 4-7

For the purposes of this chapter, “tent” shall mean any structure or enclosure constructed of canvas or other combustible fabric, or of any other material that is more conductive to the rapid spread of fire than one (1) inch nominal thickness Oregon pine wood. The erection, use, and maintenance of canvas tents and structures of similar flammable materials are hereby prohibited within agricultural and residential zones in the City and within four hundred (400) feet of any occupied dwelling without the written consent of the occupant of such dwelling. (§ 1, Ord. 1768, eff. October 21, 1971)

Tents used exclusively for camping purposes, not exceeding two hundred (200) square feet, and air supported covers for private swimming pools shall be exempt from the provisions of this chapter. (§ 1, Ord. 1768, eff. October 21, 1971)

Tents or similar structures may be erected or maintained in zones other than agricultural or residential under a permit from the Fire Chief upon proof that an applicant has the written approval of any occupant of a dwelling within four hundred (400) feet of the site of such tent. Such use shall not extend for more than thirty (30) days. (§ 1, Ord. 1768, eff. October 21, 1971)

If a permit is granted by the Fire Chief for the use of tents or similar structures, the permittee shall comply with the regulations pertaining to tents and similar structures contained in the Uniform Fire Code and/or in the California Code of Regulations Title 19. Toilets and sanitary facilities shall be provided as required by the County Health Department. (§ 1, Ord. 1768, eff. October 21, 1971)
