§ 8.12.010. Policy.¶
Conscious of the magnitude of destructive capacity of modern nuclear weapons, we recognize that our proposal would have little meaning on its own. We, therefore, appeal to our neighboring communities to make similar statements on behalf of the citizens they represent.

§ 8.12.020. Prohibition.¶
The people of the city declare it to be a nuclear-free zone. No nuclear weapon shall be produced, transported, stored, processed, disposed of, nor used within the city.

§ 8.12.030. Posting of signs.¶
The Council shall place and maintain a sign reading "nuclear-free zone" at all city limit signposts located on major city-owned street rights-of-way. The sign shall be clearly visible and its letters at least equal in size to those on the nearest city limit sign.

§ 8.12.040. Penalty.¶
Any person violating any of the provisions of this chapter shall be guilty of a misdemeanor. Any person convicted of a misdemeanor under the provisions of this chapter shall be punishable by a fine of not more than $500.00 or imprisonment for a period of not more than six months, or by both such fine and imprisonment.
