Sec. 25-17.01. Reserve Peace Officers.

The Chief of Police shall have the authority to appoint reserve police officers who have completed training certified by the State of California Commission on Peace Officer Standards and Training. Reserve police officers shall have limited peace officer authority that shall extend only for the duration of the reserve officer’s specific assignment. (Ord. 3632 § 2, 2020)

Sec. 25-17.02. Authority to Designate Level I Reserve Officers.

The Chief of Police shall have the authority to select and appoint designated Level I reserve officers as provided in California Penal Code section 830.6(a)(2). Designated Level I reserve officers shall have the full powers and duties of a peace officer as provided in section 830.1 of the Penal Code. (Ord. 3632 § 2, 2020)

Sec. 25-17.03. Authority to Suspend or Withdraw Appointment.

The Chief of Police shall have the authority to suspend, limit, or withdraw the appointment of a reserve police officer or designated Level I reserve officer at any time for any reason. (Ord. 3632 § 2, 2020)
