§ 16.06.010. Residential Code adopted by reference.

Pursuant to Government Code Section 50022.9, the city council adopts and incorporates by reference Chapters 2 through 10, Chapter 44 and Appendices AH, AJ, AQ, and AS of the California Residential Building Code, 2025 Edition, as published in the California Code of Regulations Title 24, Part 2.5.

§ 16.06.020. Residential Code amended.

California Residential Code Chapter 3, 2025 Edition, is amended, deleted or added as follows:

(a) Section 301.1.3.2 is amended to read as follows;

R301.1.3.2 Wood Frame Structures. Pursuant to California Business and Professions Code Section 5537 and Section 6737.1, construction documents must be approved and stamped by a California licensed architect or engineer for all dwellings of wood frame construction more than two stories and basement in height located in Seismic Design Category A, B, or C and more than one story in height or with a basement located in Seismic Design Category D0, D1, or D2 or E.

(b) Section R313 of the Residential Code is deleted in its entirety and replaced with California Fire Code Chapter 9 as adopted and amended by Monterey Park Municipal Code Title 17 Fire Code.
