§ 9.36.010. Admission charges for parties.

A. It is unlawful to charge admission to any party conducted in a residential zone.

B. As used in this section, the following words shall have the meanings set forth in this subsection:

  1. "Charge admission" means the demand and receipt of a tangible benefit, monetary or otherwise, which is a motivating influence for admission to the party. The customary courtesies and clearly noncommercial activity such as gifts by guests, sharing of expenses for dinner and beverage, or reciprocal hospitality shall not be considered to be a charge for admission. "Charge admission" does not include a donation for a political, charitable or religious purpose.

  2. "Party" means a group of persons meeting together for social, recreational or amusement purposes.

  3. "Residential zone" means any residential zone established by any ordinance of the city.

§ 9.36.020. Riding animals on public ways.

No person shall drive or ride any horse or other animal upon any public highway or thoroughfare within the corporate limits of the city immoderately or beyond a moderate gait, or in such a manner as to endanger the safety of persons on the highways or thoroughfares.

§ 9.36.030. Registration under false name at hotels.

It is unlawful for any person to register at any rooming house, lodging house, hotel, inn or other place in the city under the name of any other person or of a fictitious name, or any name other than the true and correct name of the person so registering, or so giving or signing or causing his or her name to be signed.

§ 9.36.050. Selling newspapers on highways.

It is unlawful for any person to sell newspapers or magazines on any portion of a public highway.

§ 9.36.080. Soliciting in city or county buildings.

No person shall solicit in any manner for any purpose in any city or county buildings.

§ 9.36.090. Vendors near schools.

A. No person shall peddle, hawk or vend ice cream, confectionery or any other kind of goods within five hundred feet of the property line of any public or private school grounds within the city between the hours of eight a.m. and five p.m. of each day that any school thereon is in session.

B. This section does not apply to:

  1. Merchants having stores within such prohibited districts, as to sales made within the store buildings;

  2. Vendors peddling vegetables, fruits or other such wares solely to householders or business establishments;

  3. Delivery wagons soliciting or delivering goods solely to householders or business establishments within such district;

  4. Any parent-teacher association, or committee thereof, or similar organization, as to activities conducted wholly on school grounds with the approval of the school authorities.
