La Verne Municipal Code Ch. 16.04 Definitions

The definitions and meanings of the following words and phrases: "tentative map," "final map," "subdivision," "subdivider," "design" and "improvement," which are defined in the Subdivision Map Act, are used in this chapter as so defined, unless from the context of this title it clearly appears that a different meaning is intended. All words used in the singular shall include the plural, and plural the singular; each gender shall include the others; any tense shall include the other tenses; the word "shall" is mandatory, and the word "may" is permissive.

"City" means the city of La Verne.

"City clerk" means the city clerk of the city of La Verne.

"City council" means the city council of the city of La Verne.

"City engineer" means the city engineer of the city of La Verne.

"Community development director" means the community development director of the city of La Verne or designee.

"County" means the county of Los Angeles.

"Decisionmaking body" means any entity authorized to take final action on a parcel map, tentative map, merger or other similar request, including the community development director, development review committee, planning commission and city council as applicable.

"Development review committee" means the development review committee of the city of La Verne as defined in Chapter 18.16 of this code.

"Division of land" means any land shown on the latest adopted map record or tax roll of that county as defined in 66424 of the Subdivision Map Act.

"Parcel" shall be defined as provided in the Subdivision Map Act of the state of California.

"Parcel map" means a map showing the division into four or less parcels of land separately described and shown on either the latest adopted map record or tax roll of the county as a separate unit of land, which division is exempt from certain provisions of the Subdivision Map Act of the state.

"Planning commission" means the planning commission of the city of La Verne.

"Subdivision Map Act" means the state law relating to subdivisions found in California Government Code, Section 66000 et seq.
