13.04.010 - Additional definitions.

For the purpose of this article, additional terms shall have the meaning indicated in Chapter 1 of the last edition of the International Association of Plumbing and Mechanical Officials Uniform Plumbing Code, copies of which are on file with the city.

13.04.020 - Applicant.

"Applicant" means the person making application for a permit for a sewer installation and shall be the owner of premises to be served by the sewer for which a permit is requested, or his authorized agent.

13.04.030 - Building.

"Building" means any structure used for human habitation or a place of business, recreation or other purpose containing sanitary facilities.

13.04.040 - City.

"City" means the City of Ione, Amador County, California.

13.04.050 - City engineer.

"City engineer" means the engineer appointed by and acting for the council and shall be a registered civil engineer.

13.04.060 - Supervisor.

"Supervisor" means the sewage treatment supervisor, public works director, city engineer or other duly appointed supervisor.

13.04.070 - Clerk.

"Clerk" means the city clerk of the city.

13.04.080 - Contractor.

"Contractor" means an individual, firm, corporation, partnership or association duly licensed by the state to perform the type of work to be done under the permit.

13.04.090 - Council.

"Council" means the city council of the city.

"County" means the county of Amador, California.

13.04.110 - Garbage.

"Garbage" means solid wastes from the preparation, cooking and the dispensing of food, and from the handling, storage and sale of produce.

13.04.120 - Permit.

"Permit" means any written authorization required pursuant to this or any other regulation of the city for the installation of any sewage works.

13.04.130 - Person.

"Person" means any human being, individual, firm, company, partnership, association and private or public or municipal corporations, the United States of America, the state, districts and all political subdivisions, governmental agencies and mandataries thereof.

13.04.140 - Sewage.

"Sewage" means a combination of water-carried wastes from residences, business buildings, institutions and industrial establishments.

13.04.150 - Sewage treatment plant.

"Sewage treatment plant" means any arrangement of devices and structures used for treating sewage.

13.04.160 - Sewage works.

"Sewage works" means all facilities for collecting, pumping, treating and disposing of sewage.

13.04.170 - Sewer.

"Sewer" means a pipe or conduit for carrying sewage.

13.04.180 - Sewer, building.

"Building sewer" means that portion of any sewer beginning at the plumbing or drainage outlet of any building or industrial facility and running to the property line or to a private sewage disposal system.

13.04.190 - Sewer, combined.

"Combined sewer" means a sewer receiving both surface runoff and sewage.

13.04.200 - Sewer, lateral.

"Lateral sewer" means the portion of a sewer lying within a public street connecting a building sewer to the main sewer.

13.04.210 - Sewer, main.

"Main sewer" means a public sewer designed to accommodate more than one lateral sewer.

13.04.220 - Sewer, outside.

"Outside sewer" means a sanitary sewer beyond the limits of the city not subject to the control or jurisdiction of the city.

13.04.230 - Sewer, private.

"Private sewer" means a sewer serving an independent sewage disposal system not connected with a public sewer and which accommodates one or more buildings or industries.

13.04.240 - Sewer, public.

"Public sewer" means a sewer lying within a street and which is controlled by or under the jurisdiction of the city.

13.04.250 - Sewer, sanitary.

"Sanitary sewer" means a sewer which carries sewage and to which stormwaters, surface waters and groundwaters are not intentionally admitted.

13.04.260 - Sewer, side.

"Side sewer" means the sewer line beginning at the foundation wall of any building and terminating at the main sewer and includes the building sewer and lateral sewer together.

13.04.270 - Sewer, storm or storm drain.

"Storm sewer" or "storm drain" means a sewer which carries stormwaters and surface waters or groundwaters and drainage, but excludes sewage and polluted industrial wastes.

13.04.280 - Street.

"Street" means any public highway, road, street, avenue, alley, way, public place, public easement or right-of-way.
