10.04.010 - Unauthorized uniform, badge or insignia.

Except as hereinafter otherwise provided, it is unlawful for any person to knowingly wear, display or use any uniform, badge or insignia of substantially similar appearance to the uniform, badge or insignia adopted by the sheriff-coroner of the county as the official uniform, badge or insignia of the Fresno County sheriff's department. A uniform, badge or insignia shall be deemed of substantially similar appearance to the uniform, badge or insignia of the sheriff's department as herein referred to if it so resembles such uniform, badge or insignia as to cause an ordinary reasonable person to believe that the person wearing, displaying or using it is a member of the Fresno county sheriff's department.

This section shall not apply to duly appointed and acting members of the Fresno County sheriff's department or to other persons specifically authorized by the sheriff-coroner to wear, display or use such uniform, badge or insignia.
