§ 10.36.010. Truck routes—Establishment generally.¶
(a) Whenever any resolution of this city designates and describes any street or portion thereof as a street the use of which is permitted by any vehicle exceeding a maximum gross weight limit of three tons, the city traffic engineer is hereby authorized to designate such street or streets by appropriate signs as "Truck Routes" for the movement of vehicles exceeding a maximum gross weight limit of three tons.
(b) When any such truck route or routes are established and designated by appropriate signs the operator of any vehicle exceeding a maximum gross weight limit of three tons shall drive on such route or routes and none other except that nothing in this section shall prohibit the operator of any vehicle exceeding a maximum gross weight of three tons coming from a truck route having ingress and egress by direct route to and from restricted streets when necessary for the purpose of making pickups or deliveries of goods, wares and merchandise from or to any building or structure located on such restricted streets for the purpose of delivering materials to be used in the actual and bona fide repair, alteration, remodeling or construction of any building or structure upon such restricted streets for which a building permit has previously been obtained therefor.
(c) The provisions of this section shall not apply to: (1) passenger buses under the jurisdiction of the public utilities commission; or to (2) any vehicle owned by a public utility while necessarily in use in the construction, installation or repair of any public utility.
(d) Those streets and parts of streets established by resolution of the council are hereby declared to be truck routes for the movement of vehicles exceeding a maximum gross weight of three tons.

§ 10.36.015. Truck routes—Designated.¶
The city council designates certain streets or portions of streets as routes, the use of which is permitted by any vehicle exceeding a maximum gross weight of three tons. The city traffic engineer is authorized to designate the following streets as truck routes by use of appropriate signs, where in his opinion, such designation is required. These streets are described as follows:
(1) Brookhurst Street from northerly city boundary to southerly city boundary:
(2) Edinger Avenue from westerly city boundary to easterly city boundary:
(3) Euclid Street from northerly city boundary to Ellis Avenue;
(4) Garfield Avenue from westerly city boundary to Brookhurst Street;
(5) Harbor Boulevard from northerly city boundary to southerly city boundary;
(6) Magnolia Street from northerly city boundary to southerly city boundary;
(7) Talbert Avenue from westerly city boundary to easterly city boundary;
(8) Warner Avenue from westerly city boundary to easterly city boundary;
(9) Slater Avenue from Euclid Street to easterly city boundary;
(10) Newhope Street from Talbert Avenue to Warner Avenue.

§ 10.36.020. Commercial vehicles prohibited from using certain streets.¶
(a) Whenever any resolution of this city designates and describes any street or portion thereof as a street the use of which is prohibited by any commercial vehicle the city traffic engineer shall erect and maintain appropriate signs on those streets affected by such ordinance.
(b) Those streets and parts of streets established by resolution of the council are hereby declared to be streets, the use of which is prohibited by any commercial vehicle. The provisions of this section shall not apply to passenger buses under the jurisdiction of the public utilities commission.

§ 10.36.030. Master arterial plan adopted.¶
That master arterial plan adopted by the board of supervisors of the county of Orange, state of California on May 31, 1956, with subsequent amendments, for the county of Orange, state of California, consisting of the general location and extent of existing and proposed major thoroughfares is hereby adopted by the city council of Fountain Valley and made a part hereof with the same effect as if fully set forth in this chapter, insofar as said master arterial plan pertains to and covers the city of Fountain Valley.

§ 10.36.040. Tract No. 5318—State code street control.¶
All the private streets within Record Tract No. 5318 shall be controlled through the provisions of the State Vehicle Code.
Private streets hereinafter described are hereby found and declared to be privately owned and maintained streets within the city that are generally held open for use of the public for purposes of vehicular traffic, and which so connect directly or indirectly with highways that the public cannot determine that they are privately owned and maintained streets and control thereof is required for the public safety, health and welfare.
Said privately owned and maintained streets are described as follows:

All the private streets within Record Tract No. 5339 shall be controlled through the provisions of the State Vehicle Code.
Private streets hereinafter described are hereby found and declared to be privately owned and maintained streets within the city that are generally held open for use of the public for purposes of vehicular traffic, and which so connect directly or indirectly with highways that the public cannot determine that they are privately owned and maintained streets and control thereof is required for the public safety, health and welfare.

§ 10.36.060. Tract No. 5356—State code street control.¶
All the private streets within Record Tract No. 5356 shall be controlled through the provisions of the State Vehicle Code.

All the private streets within Record Tract No. 5459 shall be controlled through the provisions of the State Vehicle Code.

All the private streets within Record Tract No. 5651 shall be controlled through the provisions of the State Vehicle Code.

§ 10.36.120. State code application to private streets.¶
Private streets pursuant to Section 21107.5 of the Vehicle Code of the state of California and the provisions of said Vehicle Code are hereby made applicable to all of the privately owned and maintained streets described in Sections 10.36.040 through 10.36.116.

§ 10.36.130. Traffic flow signing authority.¶
All signing for traffic flow including, but not limited to, parking and speed limits, on the private streets described in Sections 10.36.040 through 10.36.116 shall be under the discretion of the city engineer and traffic engineer.
