§ 9.36.005. Definition.

"Camp"

shall have the same meaning as in Section 2.56.010 of this code.

§ 9.36.010. Sleeping prohibited—Superblock, Expanded Civic Center, Judson Park and…

It is unlawful for any person to camp, lodge or sleep within any public facility or upon any public grounds in:

A. The Superblock and Expanded Civic Center area, more particularly described as:

Lots 1 through 5, inclusive, of Superblock Phase II in the City of El Cajon, County of San Diego, State of California, according to Map thereof Number 9548, filed in the office of the Recorder of said County February 6, 1980, together with Lot 1 of El Cajon Civic Center in the City of El Cajon, County of San Diego, State of California, according to Map thereof Number 8071, filed in the office of the Recorder of said county February 14, 1975; and Blocks 4 and 5 of Map thereof Number 597, filed in the office of the Recorder of San Diego County, State of California, on April 28, 1886. Together with that portion of Highland Avenue between Douglas Avenue and Lexington Avenue closed by the El Cajon City Council on February 3, 1987, Resolution Number 46-87.

B. That certain parcel of land commonly known as Judson Park and shown as "Park" on the Map of Palm Acres in the City of El Cajon, County of San Diego, State of California, according to Map thereof Number 1716, filed in the office of the County Recorder of San Diego County on March 25, 1921.

C. All publicly owned property between Main Street and Douglas Avenue including that area commonly referred to as the Prescott Promenade.

§ 9.36.020. Camping prohibited—City property.

It is unlawful for any person to camp or lodge in or on any property maintained or operated by the city of El Cajon.

§ 9.36.025. Sleeping prohibited—City property.

It is unlawful for any person to sleep in or on any property maintained or operated by the city of El Cajon, other than parks as defined in Section 2.56.010(B). Sleeping in parks is limited by Section 2.56.030(W) and (X).

§ 9.36.030. Exceptions.

Notwithstanding the above, this chapter shall not apply to:

A. The East County Regional Center building;

B. El Cajon fire department personnel, while on duty;

C. Persons in the custody of law enforcement officers.
