20.76.010 - Monuments and bench marks. ¶
At the time of making the survey for the final map, the engineer or surveyor shall set sufficient durable monuments to conform with the standards described in Section 8771 of the Business and Professions Code so that another engineer or surveyor may readily retrace the survey.
He shall also set the following additional monuments:
(1)
Permanent pipe monuments and boxes shall conform to standards of the city. Permanent pipe monuments shall be set at each boundary corner of the subdivision, along the exterior boundary lines at intervals of approximately five hundred feet and at all beginning of curves and ending of curves on property lines. Approved monuments shall be set at intersections of all street monument line tangents and at both the beginning of curves and ending of curves on all monument lines.
(2)
Permanent and accurate bench marks shall be established on the monument or other approved locations.
(3)
All lot corners within a subdivision shall be marked by setting a three-fourths inch galvanized steel pipe two feet long approximately six inches below finished grade. Exceptions to this requirement must be approved by the city engineer, in writing, and shall be granted only because of existing conditions at this location of the corner which prohibit installation of such pipe; in which case the subdivider may be required to mark the corner in some other manner as a condition of approval of elimination of the pipe.
