CONSERVATORSHIP EDUCATION CLASSES The Probate Investigations Division of the Superior Court of San Mateo County offers Conservatorship Education Classes. If you have questions, please call (650) 261-5068

All conservators appointed by the Court must attend the Conservatorship Education Class, which is conducted in English. If you speak English, you must attend this class. For Spanish speakers who do not speak English, the court offers an alternative. For more details, please refer to page 2.

ONLY THE APPOINTED CONSERVATOR(S) SHALL ATTEND THE CLASSES. ALL CLASSES, WHETHER FOR THE PERSON, ESTATE, OR BOTH, MUST BE COMPLETED WITHIN SIX (6) MONTHS OF THE CONSERVATOR'S APPOINTMENT.

1. Visit www.sanmateo.courts.ca.gov and click on the “Divisions” tab.

2. Scroll to the “Probate” section.

3. In the light blue box, you will find the link to sign up for the education classes. Please note that each person appointed as a conservator must sign up for each class individually, though it is permissible to “attend” via Zoom on the same computer screen together.

4. Download the “Handbook for Conservators” from the link provided below. http://www.courts.ca.gov/documents/handbook.pdf

5. Following the completion of the class, an evaluation regarding the person and/or estate class will be made accessible for your completion. Please take a moment to complete this to receive credit for attending the class(es).

You can request a copy of your certificate of completion by sending your request to PCI@sanmateocourt.org. Please include your PRO case number. There is no need to submit the certificate to the court; however, it is recommended to keep a copy for your records.

The videos listed below were prepared by San Bernardino County; the content differs from the Conservatorship Education class provided by the San Mateo Court. These videos will NOT qualify as an alternative to attending the Conservatorship Education Class for individuals who speak English. Nevertheless, all individuals are encouraged to view the videos for their personal understanding.
