VENTURA COUNTY SHERIFF — CIVIL PROCESS. The page links Civil FAQ, Service Requests, case/service status, and the e-Services Portal. Effective January 1, 2026, the Civil Unit accepts electronic service requests and online payments as well as traditional submission methods. Electronically submitted documents requiring Sheriff printing incur $1.25 per page under Government Code §26727; the page cites the Code of Civil Procedure for traditional submission methods. The Civil Unit serves received process impartially and cannot guarantee service. The Civil Unit receives, serves, and executes civil processes and orders accepted for service in the manner prescribed by law. A process brought to the Sheriff must be valid on its face, issued by a competent authority, and accompanied by adequate legal instructions. Instructions must state the process, person or entity to be served, service location, and be signed by the attorney or unrepresented party. The page says instruction forms for specific levies and service requests are available on its Service Requests page, and time restrictions apply. Service fees are set under Government Code §§26720 et seq.
