FEB 19 2026 UNTY OF EL DORAD id a “ BY LL CN — T. “ <""“Deputy7 GENERAL ORDER RE: IMPLEMENTATION OF EMERGENCY RELIEF AUTHORIZED PURSUANT TO GOVERNMENT CODE SECTION 68115 BY CHAIR OF JUDICIAL COUNCIL Exercising the authority granted under Government Code section 68115 and the February 18, 2026, Order (“Order”) of Chief Justice Patricia Guerrero, Chair of the Judicial Council of California, issued in response to the request for an emergency order made by the Superior Court of El Dorado County (“Court”) on this same date, this Court HEREBY FINDS AND ORDERS AS FOLLOWS:
- For purposes of computing time for filing papers with the Court under Code of Civil Procedure sections 12 and 12a, February 18, 2026, is deemed a holiday, if the emergency conditions described in the Order have substantially interfered with the public’s ability to file papers in a court facility on that date (Gov. Code, § 68115(a)(4)).
- Any judge of the Court may extend by not more than 10 days the duration of any temporary restraining order that would otherwise expire on February 18, 2026, because the emergency condition described in the Order prevented the Court from conducting proceedings to determine whether a permanent order should be entered (Gov. Code, § 68115(a)(7)). The attached order of the Chief Justice and the Court’s Administrative Order Re: Closure of El Dorado County Superior Court Locations Due to Severe Weather Conditions issued February 18, 2026, are incorporated as part of this General Order. THE JUDICIAL COUNCIL OF THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA Because of severe weather conditions resulting in hazardous travel and a courthouse closure, it has been determined that the conditions described in section 68115 of the Government Code are met with regard to the Superior Court of California, County of El] Dorado. Upon the request of Presiding Judge Michael J. McLaughlin, it is ordered that the Superior Court of E] Dorado County is authorized to do the following: e Declare that February 18, 2026, be deemed a holiday for purposes of computing the time for filing papers with the court under Code of Civil Procedure sections 12 and 12a, if the above-described emergency conditions substantially interfere with the public’s ability to file papers in a court facility on that date (Gov. Code, § 68115, subd. (a)(4)); and e Extend by not more than 10 days the duration of any temporary restraining order that would otherwise expire on February 18, 2026, because the emergency condition described herein prevented the court from conducting proceedings to determine whether a permanent order should be entered (Gov. Code, § 68115, subd. (a)(7)). This order applies to proceedings that otherwise would have taken place at the South Lake Tahoe branch of the Superior Court of El Dorado County. McLaughlin, Presiding Judge CLERK: Shawna Boley ADMINISTRATIVE ORDER RE: CLOSURE OF SOUTH LAKE TAHOE BRANCH DUE TO SEVERE WEATHER CONDITIONS Severe weather conditions are affecting travel conditions and prompting road closures within the City of South Lake Tahoe in proximity to the South Lake Tahoe Branch of the El Dorado County Superior Court (“Court”) making appearances difficult or impossible. In consideration of the inclement weather and to protect the safety of Court staff and users, branch closure on Wednesday, February 18, 2026, is ordered as follows:
- South Lake Tahoe Branch will be closed. It is further ordered:
- In-custody criminal arraignments normally heard in Department 3 of the South Lake Tahoe Branch will be heard by the Western Slope Branch, Department 2.
- Juvenile detention hearings normally heard in Department 4 of the South Lake Tahoe Branch will be heard by the Western Slope Branch, Department 8.
- All matters not heard as scheduled due the branch closure will be rescheduled and notice from the Court with a new hearing date and time will be issued for all continued matters.
